Hybrid SMT+DIP Process (Solder Paste Side & Insertion Side in Parallel)

The following 12 steps represent the complete PCB assembly flow — from raw PCB to a fully functional power supply board:

  1. Solder Paste / Red Epoxy Printing — Applied with precision on fully automatic printers (selected based on process requirements).
  2. Standard Component Auto-Insertion — Automatic inserters place standard through-hole components — electrolytic capacitors, resistors, Y-capacitors — precisely into PCB holes.
  3. SMD Placement — Multiple high-precision pick-and-place machines mount chip capacitors, chip resistors, and other SMD components onto the PCB.
  4. Reflow Soldering — PCBs pass through a reflow oven where solder paste melts (or red epoxy cures), securely bonding SMD components to the board.
  5. Odd-Form Component Auto-Insertion — Specialized equipment handles automatic insertion of shaped components like spring plates and transformers.
  6. Manual Insertion — Skilled technicians hand-insert irregular parts including heat sinks, AC input cables, USB female connectors, and common-mode chokes.
  7. Wave Soldering — All inserted components are soldered simultaneously in a fully automatic wave soldering machine — at this stage, the PCB is fully tinned with solid solder joints.
  8. Board Washing — Flux residues are thoroughly removed for a clean board surface.
  9. Electrical Testing — The PCB now has full electrical functionality, enabling online parametric testing.
  10. Manual Visual Inspection & Touch-Up Soldering — Skilled workers visually inspect every board and repair any soldering defects.
  11. Glue Dispensing — Large components are secured with adhesive for enhanced vibration resistance.
  12. De-Paneling — Finished PCBs are separated from panel rails.

Housing Processing

    Each assembled unit must pass pre-test, electrical test, hi-pot (insulation withstand) test, and a final electrical test — four checkpoints verifying voltage, current, and insulation integrity.
  4. Tier 4 – 2-Hour Burn-in / Aging Test
    Every unit undergoes a full 2-hour aging test under high-temperature, full-load conditions to eliminate potential early-life failures. This is a non-negotiable step in our process.
  5. Tier 5 – Final Visual Inspection & OQC Outgoing Sampling
    Quality inspectors examine every unit for scratches, gaps, and correct labeling. After packaging, OQC conducts random sampling on packed goods — shipment is released only upon OQC approval.
